Funeral Director - Robina
Karen began her journey in the funeral industry in 2000 as a Trainee Embalmer, drawn to the care and dignity that define the profession. Over time, she transitioned into arranging funerals, where her ability to connect with families became a true strength.
For Karen, hearing a family say “that’s just what we needed” or “you made it all so much easier” is the most rewarding part of her role.
Outside of work, Karen is a proud mum to a basketball-loving 12-year-old son, and when she’s not courtside, she’s paddling with her Dragonboat Racing team.
She finds it both cathartic and exhilarating; a space where teamwork and rhythm take over.
In her younger years, Karen competed on the Showjumping Circuit and today shares her home with three lively dogs: a kelpie cross, a retired racing greyhound, and a chocolate labrador.
Karen loves the Gold Coast lifestyle, with its beaches, rivers, and rainforests all within reach. She’s helped arrange many memorable farewells, including one led by her red Cadillac hearse and escorted by over 100 classic motorbikes down the M1.
She describes her Simplicity Funerals team as a small but mighty group of passionate women who go above and beyond to support families.
At her own funeral, Karen imagines a vibrant celebration: motorbikes, V8s, loud music, laughter, and grazing tables filled with food and stories.
And the soundtrack? Hallelujah by Pentatonix, played with the video: non-negotiable.
